Tens of thousands of cranes from northern Europe over-winter each year in the Parc Régional des Landes de Gascogne (50 kms away) and January is the best time of year to get a look at them.

February

Every year in July, « The Madeleine » takes place in nearby Mont-de-Marsan (22 kms away). This « fête », (which goes on for nearly a week!), is one of the largest in southwest France. Not to be missed!

Around the weekend of August 15th, Roquefort « lets its hair down » and celebrates its own fête, (a more modest affair at « only four days »), but it's 100% « fun »!

October
The last weekend of the month is traditionally when the region celebrates the end of the Armargnac harvest and the start of that year's distillation process. A fête in the Place Royale of Labastide d'Armagnac (15 kms away) is the principal venue of appreciation!

November
Enjoy a long weekend discovering how an Indian Summer can paint the little valleys of Gascony and the Armagnac Landes with thousands of autumn colours.
